Nobel Laureate Joins Q-Chem's Board of Directors

Q-Chem Inc. is delighted to announce that Professor John Pople has agreed to join its Board of Directors. Prof Pople is well known to all quantum chemists and the enormous impact that his work has had on the field was recognized last year by the award of the 1998 Nobel Prize for Chemistry.

Prof Pople will also contribute directly to the evolution of the Q-Chem software. He plans to use Q-Chem as the platform for the development of his future innovations. "Q-Chem is a rapidly evolving program designed for modern computer architectures. As such, it offers an attractive environment for the exploration and implementation of new ideas", he said.

"John is an acknowledged leader in the development and dissemination of new methods and algorithms in computational chemistry and his scientific and corporate contributions to Q-Chem will be a wonderful asset for us", declared Peter Gill, President of Q-Chem Inc.

Prof Pople joins Prof Fritz Schaefer and Mr John Stott, both of whom joined Dr Gill on Q-Chem's Board in 1998. Prof Martin Head-Gordon will continue to serve as Scientific Advisor to the Board.
