WHEN: January 15th, 2012 (Sunday)

WHERE: Q-Chem Head Office, Pittsburgh, PA

WHAT: In conjunction with the Q-Chem Spring board meeting in Pittsburgh, the Q-Chem office is organizing a one-day workshop “Transition to the Future” to provide developers an opportunity to learn about the technical aspects of the latest Q-Chem development, and participate in the planning of the future directions of Q-Chem code development after 4.0 release.

WHY: The Q-Chem package is undergoing significant changes in an effort to address current development bottlenecks and to keep pace with modern computing technologies. The purpose of this workshop is to help perspective developers gain inside knowledge of Q-Chem code structure and learn the best practices under the new development environment, e.g., the recent switch to SVN and coming changes in code compilation using CMake. Attendants will also directly participate in discussions on code modernization initiatives to make these maximally benefitial.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Active/Prospective developers interested in contributing features to Q-Chem and improving developing skills. Research groups intending to participate in the discussions of future plan and collaboration strategies in the code modernization effort.
